The catalyst for revitalizing, beautifying, and energizing downtown Grants.

Grants MainStreet is the heart of downtown Grants, where residents and visitors come for commerce, entertainment, and culture. Through a resonant strategy, we will revitalize our community from within to create a thriving district, city, and county.

Our Mission & District

What is Grants MainStreet?

Grants MainStreet Project, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to revitalize and beautify the Grants MainStreet District.

Our work uses the Four-Point Approach to promote, design, organize, and revitalize businesses, properties, and public places in the downtown area.

We are a small-scale economic developer, exploring ways to support commerce and address the needs of businesses and property owners within the MainStreet District.

Where is the Grants MainStreet District?

The Grants MainStreet District encompasses the most commercial buildings within a mile 1/2 span. The district starts on the west side of town, at the intersection of Wayne Street & Route 66 (Santa Fe Avenue); it extends eastward to Anderman Street & Route 66 (Santa Fe Avenue); and then covers north along the Rio San Jose, including properties along Mountain Road and High Street.

The MainStreet 4-Point Approach

MainStreet's Organization Point focuses on developing resources (human and financial), encourage cooperation, and build leadership in the district. The work engages in volunteer recruitment, volunteer appreciation, fundraising, and organizational structuring.

The Design Point focuses on improving the appearance of downtown Grants and promotes historic preservation. Work within this point revolves around private and property development, reuse, and beautification. Things like park clean-ups, assisting in the development of a property for reuse, updating signage and facades, supporting art in public places.

Economic Vitality means concerning ourselves with the health of our local economy. This point focuses on encouraging alternative uses such as housing and cultural entities to reduce vacancy in the district, providing education about public and private economic development resources, and encouraging public and private investment in the district to support job creation and combat physical deterioration through the preservation and enhancement of the district.

The Promotion Point champions creating a positive image for downtown Grants by education of local history and promotion of the downtown as an exciting place to live. Things like capturing and sharing the stories of influential families and individuals, hosting events that generate foot traffic in the downtown, amplifying business promotions through our promotional channels, and communicating the district success.
