Come to Cibola County to experience one or all viewing locations for the 2023 Annual Solar Eclipse!

All along Route 66 in Cibola County will be places you can view the "Ring of Fire". Here are the locations, and below is more information on what activities & amenities you can find at these locations: 

  • El Malpais National Park Visitor Center
  • Coyote Del Malpais Golf Course - Grants
  • Fire & Ice Park - Grants
  • Sandstone Bluffs - HWY 117
  • Kearns Park - Milan

Fire & Ice Park Viewing Location

Activities and amenities:

  • Pancake Breakfast

El Malpais National Park Visitor Center Viewing Location

Activities and amenities:

  • Gates open at 7:00 am. Gates will close when parking is full.
  • Parking is limited to approximately 100 vehicles.
  • No RVs over 25 ft or vehicles with trailers.
  • No overnight parking allowed.
  • The visitor center will be open until 10:00 am. The restrooms will remain open for the entire duration of the eclipse. 
  • This location includes flush toilets, picnic tables, and drinking water. Snacks are available to purchase at the park store.
  • Accessibility information: This location is fully ADA accessible.

El Malpais National Park & Park Service

Sandstone Bluffs Viewing Location

Activities and amenities:

  • Located 15 minutes south of Interstate 40 Exit 89 on Highway 117.
  • Gate opens at 7:00 am. Gate will close when parking is full.
  • Parking is limited to approximately 30 vehicles.
  • No RVs over 25 ft or vehicles with trailers.
  • No overnight parking allowed 
  • Amenities at this location include vault toilets, portable toilets, and picnic tables.
  •  There is no drinking water, food, or shelter available at Sandstone Bluffs.
  • Accessibility information: This location includes a short ramp to a viewing area of the clif
