Important Community Update
Thank you to the Grants community for the messages, feedback, and support over the past 24 hours. We understand these changes have been disappointing, and we want you to know that every decision was made with the safety of our families, children, and community as the top priority.
To keep the holiday spirit going while addressing safety concerns, we are moving forward with a daytime Christmas Float Festival and a full afternoon Cookie Crawl. This updated plan allows the community to enjoy the floats up close, take advantage of the daylight and weather, and easily attend both events in one fun-filled day.
Why a Daytime Float Festival?
This format allows families to safely view floats, enjoy better visibility, and take part in multiple holiday activities throughout the day.
Second Chance to Win – New Nighttime Video Contest
Based on community feedback, we are adding a second opportunity for float participants to win awards.
How to enter:
Record a short nighttime video of your float with the lights on and submit it by Monday, December 15 at 10:00 AM. All videos will be compiled into a community viewing reel, and the public will vote online.
Voting will close Friday, December 19 at 12:00 PM, with first, second, and third place winners announced by the end of the day. This online contest is separate from the judged awards at the Float Festival, meaning participants can win twice.
Free Toys for Kids
Every child attending the Float Festival will receive a free toy while supplies last, whether they are riding on a float or walking or driving through the event. This is in addition to the glow sticks already planned.

We are excited to welcome nearly 60 registered floats and groups. The creativity, time, and effort put into this event by participants and volunteers truly shows the strength of our community.

Below are explanations on what each criteria is indicative of:
Theme: “Christmas Movies”
- How well the float represents the parade theme
- Creativity, originality, and over all presentation
- Use of props, costumes, designs inspired by Christmas Movies.
Amount of Lights:
- The total number and visibility of lights used
- How well lighting enhances the floats overall designs.
- Even and effective light placements.
Cohesiveness:
- How well the overall design flows together
- Consistent use of color, lights, and decoration.
- Smooth continuation of the theme from start to finish.
