Grants MainStreet Neon Light Program

The Grants MainStreet Neon Light Project is a new initiative focused on celebrating the iconic neon heritage of Historic Route 66 while helping create a brighter, more vibrant downtown experience in Grants, New Mexico.

Inspired by the classic glow of Route 66 roadside architecture and vintage Americana, this project encourages creative neon lighting installations throughout the Grants MainStreet District. The goal is to strengthen downtown identity, improve storefront visibility, support local businesses, and help establish Grants as a memorable Route 66 destination for residents and visitors alike.

Through this initiative, Grants MainStreet Project hopes to help create a coordinated neon corridor along Historic Route 66 that enhances the nighttime atmosphere of downtown while preserving and celebrating the spirit of classic American travel culture.

The Neon Light Project is designed to:

• Enhance storefront visibility and business branding
• Create a more vibrant and welcoming downtown environment
• Celebrate the historic character of Route 66
• Encourage tourism and visitor engagement
• Support placemaking and community identity
• Help build a recognizable neon corridor through downtown Grants

Applications are open to businesses located within the Grants MainStreet District, including:

• Retail Shops
• Restaurants & Cafes
• Lodging Businesses
• Tourism & Visitor Businesses
• Service Businesses

Preference may be given to businesses located directly along Historic Route 66 (Santa Fe Avenue), businesses with evening operating hours, and projects that contribute to the historic character and visual identity of downtown.
